SPC's Two New Plastic Products Pass Sinopec Group's Appraisal
The "high-gloss & heat-resistant polypropylene serials" and the "BOPP film for cigarette packing" developed by the Plastics Division of Shanghai Petrochemical Co. Ltd. (SPC) have gone through trial production and passed appraisal of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group).
As the largest production and exporting country of small household appliances in the world, China uses about 100,000-ton high-gloss & heat-resistant plastic in the production of small household appliances, such as electric kettles, electric cookers and warmers. However, the plastic is mostly imported. In order to substitute imported plastic and benefit enterprises and the society, researchers of the Plastics Institute under the SPC Plastics Division started to commit themselves to developing high-gloss & heat-resistant polypropylene in October 2006. Through over one year's efforts, they succeeded in getting out a series of products, which reached the level of foreign similar products in comprehensive properties. They applied for 6 patents and expected to possess their independent intellectual property. Among them, M800HS has been accredited as the "New High-tech Achievements Transformation Project (Class A)" by the Shanghai City, thus enjoying certain favorable tax policy .
Same situation existed in the special materials for cigarette packing films (including high-quality ones), where import is the major solution. It took the researchers in the Plastics Division two years to develop high-quality special materials for cigarette packing films, which met domestic demand for high-grade cigarette packing and added to the portfolio of SPC BOPP special materials.
