SPC Wins Contribution Award of Environmental Control for World Expo
Recently, SPC has won the Contribution Award of Environmental Control out of the 2nd Shanghai Contribution Awards for the World Expo. Besides, the Award is the only Contribution Award of Environmental Control for the World Expo won by the economy and information system of Shanghai this time.
The Contribution Awards for the World Expo in Shanghai were jointly appraised and elected by the Spiritual Civilization Committee of Shanghai, the Social Mobilization Headquarters of the 600-day Action for the World Expo, the Urban Administration Headquarters as well as the Window Service Headquarters. Six awards in public management, environmental control, quality service, publicity and education, voluntary service and excellent creativity were set up, with the aim of making a demonstrative effect through praising the advanced representatives to push the expansion of the 600-day Action.
In recent years, SPC has been taking the initiative in social responsibilities of environmental control to meet the overall demand of "Embracing the World Expo with Courtesy and Consideration". The company uses the wastewater treatment devices which adopt its self-developed biological deodorization technology in phase I effluvium treatment, ranking itself as the leader in waste gas treatment by using new technology. It shuts down the machines and boilers in the 1st Station of the Thermal Power Plant, which was once honored as "the Contributing Power Plant", so that 4,000-10,000 tons of sulfur dioxide emission can be reduced annually. Furthermore, it invests RMB110 million in establishing No.1 and No. 2 boiler flue gas desulfurization (FGD) devices in the 2nd Station of the Thermal Power Plant, with an annual decrease of 6,700 tons of sulfur dioxide emission and more than 1,000 tons of dust emission.
Besides, SPC combines the environmental control for the World Expo with the circular economy development. The company further improved the former recycling system of flare gas, and last year it set up the flare gas desulfurization recycling system in aromatics sector and put it into operation. The flare gas recycled by the system will be merged into the internal fuel pipe network after desulfurization and be used as fuel gas to replace the liquefied gas, so that not only the consumption of fuel gas but also the negative influence of the flare gas emission can be lowered, and both economic and social benefits can be achieved. The system has recycled 8,982 tons of flare gas from January to April this year.
At present, SPC is continuously promoting the environmental control work for the World Expo. The intermediate handover work of No.3 and No.4 FGD devices invested by SPC with the amount of RMB120 million has been finished and the devices are under trial running now. After the devices are put into use officially, the construction task of FGD devices of SPC's coal machines and boilers will be completed entirely. The intermediate handover work of the phase II effluvium treatment project of sewage treatment devices constructed with the investment of nearly RMB30 million will be finished in the middle of June, and all the effluvium caused by SPC's secondary sewage treatment devices will be bio-deodorized at that time.
