SPC No.2 Ethylene Glycol Device Passes Acceptance Check of Environmental Protection Ministry

The No.2 ethylene glycol device of SPC, with the maximum capacity for a single set in China, has recently passed the acceptance check of completion and environmental protection organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China.

The device, with the annual capacity of 0.38-million-ton glycol, adopts the advanced technology of American Science and Design Company, with the clean and production ability at a high level both at home and aboard. In the construction of the project, SPC insisted on the system of "Simultaneous Design, Construction and Putting into Use of Main Projects and Environmental Protection Facilities", and established the supporting waste gas incinerator to dispose various organic waste gas from the production; it used the 30% carbon dioxide from the production in a comprehensive way to produce the food-grade carbon dioxide; it reconstructed the original pretreatment device of waste water with technology innovation to carry out the bio-deodorization towards the effluvium released in the disposal of waste water, set up a new 4,000-cubic-meter accident pool and took some noise reduction measures such as sound insulation and noise elimination towards various noise sources.

The No.2 ethylene glycol device of SPC was completed and put into trial production in March 2007. The two-year production and operation have proved that the pollutants of waster water and waster gas, discharged by the device, meet the discharge standards of China or Shanghai, and the solid wastes have been treated properly, thus contributing to the steady and standard emission of waste water, waste gas and waste residue.
